Do you send them an email, saying, "nice (insert selected body part here), wanna screw?"  Well, let me asdk you a question to answer that question.  Would you walk into a bar and ask the first attractive person you see, "nice shoes..wanna screw?"  My next question would be as to how well that's working for you.  If it's working to your satisfaction, then, by all means, carry on.  However, my guess is, it isn't working very well, if at all.  Well, if something doesn't work in a bar or night club, face to face, it's not going to work any better online.

So, the question is, what does work?  Well, that depends a lot on two things:  Your personality, and the personality of the person you're trying to flirt with. We'll talk first about your personality.

The main thing to remember is to be yourself.  If you're normally a very witty person, then by all means, use that in approach.  If you're not naturally witty, then any attempts at that are going to come out cheesy and contrived, and you will either get no response, or a very unkind response.  If you're normally very suave, smooth, and debonair, again, be that person online as well.  Yet again, if you're not, the results are going to be unpleasant, I assure you.  Just relax, talk to them like you would talk to anyone in person, and you'll be just fine.  You may not catch all the fish you cast your bait at, but the ones that aren't interested in your uniqueness aren't going to make very good partners for you anyway.

Secondly, it is generally a good idea to know a little about the person before you send them a flirty email of message.  The first way to get to know a little about someone's personality is to read their profile.  Hopefully, they have filled out all the available information, and you can get an idea of their likes, dislikes, and their intentions.  For instance, if you send extremely flirty emails to those who are only looking for friends, and nothing more, you probably won't get very far.  A second way to get to know a little about someone is to observe them in a chat room, if they are frequent chatters.  Watch how they interact with others, and the types of comments they react to, both positively, and negatively.  If they have neither a detailed profile, or a frequent chat history, then try sending them an email.  It's generally good to start out with something fairly tame at first, maybe a note letting them know you'd like to know a little more about them.  If you receive a very terse, short response, or no response at all, you're probably barking up the wrong tree.  It should become obvious fairly quickly whether or not they are going to want to flirt with you through their email responses.

Again, the main thing to remember about flirting online is that it is just like flirting in person.  You first need to be yourself, and relax.  Second, it certainly helps to know a little about the person with whom you're flirting, to know if they are going to be at all receptive to your comments.
