Also often referred to as “showstoppers,” dealbreakers are events or actions that signify a breakdown in the fabric of the relationship. Why am I including this in a book on successful relationships? It is as important to know what types of things can sink a relationship as it is to know the types of things that can keep it afloat.

While it is very important to stand for something, to have beliefs and values, and stick to them, that doesn’t mean that you have to be stubborn to the point that you always have to get your way.  When it comes to things that would violate your morals or values, then yes, by all means, stick to your guns.  But when it comes to smaller issues, and even some bigger issues, compromise is a valuable tool.

Many people view jealousy as strictly a negative thing, but it isn’t.  There is a healthy level of jealousy that can vastly improve a relationship.  It can be very difficult to know where to draw the line between healthy jealousy, and the type of jealousy that is really mistrust, but it is possible.
